In 2019, my studio mate, Lindsey Haligas, and I completed a joint project that helped us start conversations about the shared experiences of women and our need to stick together and support one another. What started as a silly conversation about how little girls write their first names next to their (male) crush's last name turned into a much more important conversation about the male savior narrative (hence the title, crossing out AID surrounded by the word MEN). Our images are meant to show feminine strength and neighborly kindness between women.
